To members of our club, the tracks around Collie are considered the "Holy Grail" of Four-Wheel Driving.

The harsh, rocky terrain and steep slopes scare off all but the most enthusiastic of four-wheel-drivers, and even Suzukies equipped with raised suspension, and aggressive off-road tyres can be expected to struggle, and even vehicles equipped with twin diff-locks and rock-crawler transfer cases can get themselves into trouble.

Usually we head into Collie during early Spring (September/October) where the area is still very muddy from the Winter rains, but this year Rob decided to take us through in the middle of Summer, where the dry terrain provided us with different challenges, and to make life even more interesting he took us around the tracks in the reverse direction, so we descended hills we normally climb, and climbed those we normally decend.

We ended up with four cars in the convoy, and we all had a blast. In fact we had so much fun that when we had completed the circuit we decided to turn around and go back in the "usual" direction, and find some other hills to conquer.

Thanks to Rob for the excellent trip, and my thanks also to my brother Pat for being an invaluable co-driver and for taking most of the photos you see here.
